US (MA): Worker co-op greenhouse to mark first anniversary

The largest urban commercial greenhouse in Massachusetts is marking its one-year anniversary.

The Wellspring Harvest greenhouse was built on the once badly polluted former Chapman Valve site in the Indian Orchard neighborhood of Springfield. 

It is a year-round hydroponic farm that trains and employs local people to grow lettuce and other produce with an eventual opportunity to share ownership in the business, according to Fred Rose, co-director of the Wellspring Cooperative Corporation.
