'Thanks to partnership with Aldi'

UK: Kent-based strawberry supplier aims for highest ever yield

A Kent-based strawberry supplier is on course for its highest ever yield thanks to a partnership with Aldi. Chambers, in Langley, will provide 4,500 tons of strawberries to Aldi stores across the country in 2019, almost doubling the amount it delivered in 2018.

Owned and run by the Chambers family since 1952, the company has worked with Aldi since 2013. The link-up has allowed the business to invest £4m in its operations. "Our long-standing partnership with Aldi has helped us to grow more strawberries than ever before and expand our business," said Chambers managing director Tim Chambers. "It has provided us with the stability to open new sites, invest in new equipment and create more secure employment in Kent. We have even more exciting projects planned and look forward to continuing to work closely with Aldi in the coming years."

Julie Ashfield, managing director of buying at Aldi UK, added: "Chambers' range of berries has proven incredibly popular since we began working with them, and their growth means that even more customers will be able to enjoy our British strawberries."
