New fertiliser unit for horticulture

The international horticulture sector recently got to know the new fertiliser unit by Hotraco Horti. The machine was presented at GreenTech in Amsterdam. Rick Oomen, Business Developer Horticulture of Hotraco Horti: "We are happy with it. The machine is very practical; on the one hand, the machine is compact and on the other, the machine can handle relatively large volumes. This unit can also work stand alone, which is great. This unit can be used both in the greenhouse and in the open ground cultivation. It doesn't have to (but can) be linked to a climate computer, as it can even control the cranes in the greenhouse."

The technique behind it
This unit has a capacity of 10 or 20 m3 per hour. Has standard three venturi valves. This number can easily be extended to five. Rick: "The regular units inject the fertilisers into the tray. Our new unit is a circular unit. This means that the tray is filled automatically. It continues to pump around. Due to the valves, the fertiliser is constantly mixed."

The Hotraco fertiliser unit is guided by a feeding recipe based on EC/pH. It can reach eight departments from the same tray with 16 taps per department. After each department, it rinses itself through. Now there is a different feeding recipe for each department, if needed.

Hotraco Horti divides its products between five solution areas: Climate, Water, Motor Control, Energy and Management & Analysis. The fertiliser unit falls under the 'Water' group. Hotraco actually started within the 'Energy' segment. Rick: "We notice mainly in the international market that the growers need the full picture. We now offer a solution in all the five named areas. And this sits well with our international contacts. They always want to technically upgrade their entire greenhouse. Don't just think climate control, but also motor control and irrigation. We can do that now. We are more complete."

The fertiliser unit has been presented. It will be available at the start of 2020. Hotraco presents technical solutions for the mid-tech horticulture from their sales offices in the Netherlands, China, Colombia and India.
