The pink tomato season of Barbastro has just started and the tomatoes grown in protected conditions have already hit the shelves. The product will be available on a large scale from mid-July, and the peak of the season will be reached in mid-August.
In this tenth season, the Pink Tomato of Barbastro Association hopes the production record will be beaten again. The weather conditions have been good so far, and this, added to the higher number of plants and the forecast of an increase in the production of between 10% and 15%, will likely result in a production record, with at least 2,250,000 kilos of tomatoes.
Since 2014, when the brand Tomate Rosa de Barbastro was registered, the Pink Tomato of Barbastro Association has been carrying out supervisory work to ensure that the expected standards are maintained. That is, that the product's name is not used fraudulently, and that the brand and its reputation continue to grow.
