The worldwide outbreak of the ToBRF virus requires growers to pay even more attention to hygiene. Suppliers also pay extra attention to it. Unifortes as a producer of industrial cleaning solutions, has always done so. Nevertheless, the latest virus was a reason for Unifortes to develop a new stand-alone disinfection unit.
“We have developed this stand-alone disinfection unit in collaboration with a chemical specialist. Within a week after the first reports about the virus, we had the first prototype ready. After a few tests in practice and a few adjustments afterwards, a second version of the unit was made. That unit has already been supplied to more than twenty companies within four weeks," according to the company.
Combining with existing setups
The stand-alone disinfection unit can easily be combined with existing systems. The unit can be placed over an existing conveyor belt thanks to the height-adjustable spray windows. “The machine is constantly spraying a mixture of water with a disinfectant over the product that is to be disinfected. Besides, for each situation, largely depending on the product, we look into the disinfectant that has to be used and the contact time that is needed for it."
The machine can be integrated very quickly with machine arrangements from other manufacturers. “The machine is adjustable in height both at the bottom and at the top and must be connected to the water supply network. The grower can do this himself, but our technicians are also happy to help ensure a good connection.”
