During the GreenTech horticulture trade show in Amsterdam, Nijssen presents a new model of MyGrowthRoom, the successful multifunctional mobile walk-in climate chamber for cultivation tests and indoor farming production.
In the rapidly developing indoor farming market there is undiminished demand for a small-scale plug-and-play testing facility. Nijssen integrates user wishes and experiences into the new MyGrowthRoom. The climate room offers space for four Danish trolleys. A front room has been built in to prevent abrupt climate fluctuations.
Adequate airflow is key Creating the right microclimate around the plant is one of the major challenges in indoor farming. Adequate air control therefore does much more than dehumidifying and cooling away lighting heat. While technology controls the climate at the level of the entire room, a microclimate prevails around the plant, which is furthermore actively influenced by the plant. With a well-dosed air movement, the conditioned air is brought as close as possible to the plant. Optimal air quality and air composition around the plant reduces the risk of loss to fungi and infections. In the new MyGrowthRoom much attention has been paid to controlled and uniform air control, based on our know-how from previous projects for research institutions. The air speed is adjustable to allow optimum air movement for different crops and to facilitate research as broadly as possible.
Advanced control systems The user-friendly Nijssen Control System provides control of MyGrowthRoom. Users have access to the complete set of functionalities that is used in renowned research facilities. The operating system facilitates, among other things, 24/7 monitoring, large-scale registration of data and extensive data analysis. Automatically controlled irrigation and group control of the LED lighting are also available.
Customized LED solution MyGrowthRoom is used for research and for small-scale indoor cultivation. In addition, the walk-in chamber is widely used to compare different types of lighting under exactly the same conditioned conditions. "In consultation with the client, we make a choice from the available LED solutions," said technical engineer Jordi Mol van Nijssen. "For production, other priorities apply than for tests and research, where you want to have access to a wide range of spectra and light intensity."
