It has already been three years since Seasun started the cultivation of cherry plum TOV Strabena. The Strabena is now well known on the market. At the moment, there is a select number of growers in the Netherlands that cultivate the Strabena.

This milestone was celebrated by Seasun with a cake, delivered by Duco de Ruiter of vegetable breeder Bayer (De Ruiter). Jochem Dieleman, seller Fresh ConneQt, received the cake. Jochem organizes the sale of the Strabena for Seasun: "In the first years, we had a lot of competition in the cherry plum TOV segment. We have invested considerable effort and energy to find our place. The Strabena has proven itself, and earned its place. To us, it is a top product."
Acreage expansion
In the coming winter, Seasun will again expand the area of the Strabena. Duco de Ruiter: "The Strabena is a real specialty tomato with a deep red color. Also, the vine attachment is a good property which makes sure that the fruits do not fall off easily during harvesting, sorting, and packaging. This reduces waste significantly, and gives this tomato the potential to be packed in only carton packaging. In this way, leaps can be made in the field of sustainability."
