“Until the 2000s, all the modern greenhouses in our country were built by foreign companies but now domestic companies can build plastic and glass greenhouses at the highest quality", according to Turkish Greenhouse Manufacturers Association Chairman Halil Kozan.
"In 2018, around 2,000 hectares of greenhouses were built in the country and greenhouse manufacturing and construction has been one of the fastest growing industries in the country. We project a 70% increase in 2019.
"There are around 50 companies operating in the country in this industry. Most of them are completely domestic companies, only 10% of these companies are the distributors of foreign companies. Our domestic greenhouse manufacturers have reached a very good level in terms of quality. The greenhouses built by them have no difference from modern greenhouses in Europe.
"Now our growers and investors should learn to trust domestic greenhouse companies, we even have some domestic companies which export materials to other countries, so there is no need for our growers to seek foreign companies for their greenhouses.”
