Growers all over the world are cautious and take prevention measures against the ToBRF virus. This applies to many cultivation aspects, the crop rotation included. "The required machines and supplies for the crop rotation have to be clean. You do not want any virus in your greenhouse, especially not ToBRF", the team with Weterings knows.
Rob van den Berg, Weterings: "We see that more and more growers want to have their own transport mats. The transport mats of the contractors are being transported from company to company. Of course, the greenhouse is completely cleaned after emptying. Still many growers do not want to introduce a single thing from outside into the greenhouse."

Canvas cleaners
Transport mats are used again and again. "But you want them to be clean. Actually, you should clean and disinfect these transport mats immediately after use."
Weterings has a transport mat cleaner in the program, with which pull-out transport mats are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. The growers purchase these, so they can clean and disinfect the canvasses after the cultivation change themselves. In this way, you can store the transport mats properly cleaned. These transport mat cleaners are now mostly used abroad.
Rob: "This machine is completely made of stainless steel, has six brushes with various functions, various spraying arms, and scrapers. The transport mats are, by means of an automatic alignment system, rolled up upright and without wrinkles. In the final step of the cleaning process, a disinfection agent is sprayed onto the material, after which the transport mats are rolled up in wet condition, so the disinfection agent can do its work properly. After one or two days, they are dry and clean."

Pull-out transport mats
Weterings sells pull-out transport mats. They are now finalizing the last stage of the development of a new type of mat. The yield strength lengthwise is much higher, while the relative weight only increased a bit. "The need for pull-out transport mats with a higher yield strength is growing because the crops are getting heavier, and the rows are getting longer. The demand for these canvasses came directly from the market to Weterings", they explain.
