Third edition of Infoagro Exhibition closed with praise to the sector's dedication since the 50's

The last day of the third edition of Infoagro Exhibition was an intense day in which the sector's good work, both in the past and in the present, was praised. For the third consecutive day, thousands of professional visitors filled the Palacio de Congresos of Aguadulce in order to continue learning about the innovations presented by the exhibiting companies and continue doing business.

As for the fair's program, one of the highlights was the Ceremony of the Infoagro Exhibition 2019 Awards, presented to leading companies in the sector in a number of categories corresponding to the different sub-sectors that make up the intensive production and auxiliary industry.

Together with the Councilor of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development of the Government of Andalusia, the mayor of the City Council of El Ejido, Francisco Góngora; Manuel Cortés, mayor of the City Council of Adra; Manuel Gómez Galera, general director for Agricultural and Livestock Production; Aránzazu Martín, delegate of the Council of Agriculture, Fisheries and Rural Development of the Government of Andalusia in Almería; and Cristina de Toro, new general director for Industries and the Food Chain of the Government of Andalusia, all handed out awards to companies such as CASI (in the Marketing category), Biorizon Biotech (in the category of Vegetable Nutrition), Corteva Agriscience (in the Plant Health category), Tecnoponiente Invernaderos (in the Greenhouse Technology category), Biosol Portocarrero (in the category of Environmental Sustainability and Organic Production), Megasa (in the category of Agricultural Input Distribution), Eugen Seed (in the category of Plant Improvement), El Plantel Semilleros (in the category of Business Development), FH Almería (in the category of Communication) and Antonio Muñoz Torrecillas, in the category of Agricultural Product.

Also, the Organizing Committee of Infoagro Exhibition wished to make a special mention to a person who has always been available to support the sector whenever it was needed, and who has been involved in many previous agricultural fairs held in the Palacio de Congresos of Aguadulce over the years: Nicolás Manzano López.

The conference room was filled with family members and friends of those paid homage to, who wished to be present in their honor.

Furthermore, during the afternoon of the last day of Infoagro Exhibition, there was a Tribute Ceremony to the Pioneers of Fruit and Vegetable Marketing in the Province of Almeria. This was held in a crowded conference room, in which family and friends of those paid homage to wished to honor their work, sacrifice, honesty, perseverance and effort since the 50's. They contributed not only with their businesses, but also supporting agricultural producers and fighting to bring infrastructure to Almería that would allow them access to water for irrigation. They made it possible for the rough, infertile and dry lands of Almeria to become a leading global example as far as intensive production and the auxiliary industry are concerned.

Spanish MP Juan José Matarí presented the tribute symbol to Gabriel Barranco Fernández.

During the ceremony, videos were played showing the first-hand experiences of some of the people who first started marketing fruits and vegetables in Almeria, who are already at quite an advanced age. There were also explanations about the work and the experiences of those who were unable to attend due to health reasons, or because they are no longer with us. It was an emotional ceremony in which Gabriel Amat Ayllón, mayor of the City Council of Roquetas de Mar, and Juan José Matarí, Spanish MP, were in charge of handing out a symbol of the tribute that Infoagro Exhibition wished to make to these men, for the love that they showed for their profession throughout their lives, thereby giving shape to the sector that we know today.

Thus, a tribute was paid to marketers as prominent and famous in the province of Almeria as Adrián Martínez García, José Mullor Ortuño (better known as Pepe Business), Luis Galdeano Cortés, José Rivas Vargas, Rogelio Vargas Fernández, Antonio Peregrín Mula, Luis Cañadas García (Better known as Aniceto), Enrique Vargas Fernández, Emilio Linares Ruiz, Lorenzo Belmonte Navarro. José Martín Almendros, José Cabrera García, José López Martínez (better known as Fernandero), José Antonio Pomares López, Luis García González (better known as Lechero), Manuel Lorenzo Espinosa, Francisco Amat Ayllón, Gabriel Barranco Fernández, Juan Antonio Díaz Planelles and José García Callejón (better known as Pepe Matillas), as well as the cooperativist brothers José and Enrique López Peña, founding partners of Hortamar.

During the last day, professional visitors and exhibiting companies continued their activity with the desire of striking business deals that would help give the sector a boost

In short, after the resounding success achieved by its professional visitors, and after the gratitude shown to the organization by the numerous exhibiting companies, the Organizing Committee of Infoagro Exhibition wished to close its third edition praising and showing appreciation to the effort that the sector makes every day.
