The bell pepper market can be best described as one of peaks and troughs. According to Marco Bergman of the Dutch company, Harvest House, this is true for both supply and prices. "The peaks have been relatively high in both scenarios. The troughs have also persisted for a long time in both supplies and prices. The unstable supply is ensuring that there is and will be, bad grip and stability in the market, commercially-speaking," he says.
"This wave movement in supplies and prices is expected to continue in the coming weeks. To date, hardly any bell peppers have been sent to North America. This, while there are still some overseas areas on the market. This situation has made the bell pepper market unique up to now. Perhaps it will still come but, for now, it has remained limited," says the seller.
"What does remain is the total European retail market. It is responsible for a huge percentage of the Dutch bell pepper sales. It also seems that, to date, the Spanish bell peppers have less influence on the bell pepper market," concludes Marco.
