When you think of a Skytrain, you might think of public transport, or maybe a new upgrade to the Star Wars fleet. Think again. The vehicle is developed for the Novavert HS2 roof screen system, speeding up the installation process.
Automation is key in the current horticultural world. With labour being an issue and process speed of importance all the time, innovative solutions are needed. The team with Novavert, known for their screen material, has developed one that's actually quite simple but provides impressive time-saving and improves safety of the instalment works.
The Skytrain premiered earlier this year at the Florida nursery Sunblest Gardens and as shown in the video, provides a solution to installing or changing screens with the HS2 retractable roof system. Known for the flexible screening options, the system is used by growers all over the world.
"Thanks to the ability to work from the side of the house, installation becomes much easier and faster done", Niclas Heescher with Novavert explains. The panels, provided prepared for this way of working, are pulled easily over 60 meter and more by a winch. The triangle pulling them then is returned to the other side on the same rope. This way two workers can recover 2000m2 per day. "And most important, at maximum work safety."
Key in this way of working is the newly developed HS2 skytrain. The battery powered, remoted-controlled vehicle gets the pull-rope in rapidly, without person having to cross the cultivation area.
"There are high torque drives available and the speed can be adjusted and goes up to 100m per minute", Niclas shows. The device is battery powered and uses standard battery packs, to make replacement within seconds available.
The HS2 skytrain kits are available for all new installations with 2019 HD-profiles. After installation of the screens, the skytrain remains of use as well. With wireless cameras, sensors or containers that can be released at programmed positions, Niclas explains how it is another step towards making HS2 the most user-friendly retractable roof system.
