Sri Lanka: Fibredust factory awarded SA8000 certification

Fibredust announces that company owned factory, SP Matpol in Sri Lanka, has received SA8000 certification.

SA8000 measures social performance in eight areas important to social accountability in workplaces, anchored by a management system element that drives continuous improvement in all areas of the Standard. It is appreciated by brands and industry leaders for its rigorous approach to ensuring the highest quality of social compliance in their supply chains, all the while without sacrificing business interests.

The Standard reflects labor provisions contained within the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Labor Organization (ILO) conventions. It also respects, complements and supports national labor laws around the world, and currently helps secure ethical working conditions for millions of workers.

“I’m very proud of our factories!  To me, social accountability is of the utmost importance and critical to producing quality solutions. The workplace has to be one where the welfare of the workers is paramount and cannot be sacrificed. Receiving SA8000 certification is affirmation that we are on the right path and doing good not only for our customers - but for our workers”, said Sam Ahilan, CEO Fibredust LLC.
