On 17th May 2019, Crea, Crpv and Newplant organised an event at Martorano 5 in Cesena (FC). Many technicians and operators took part.

"250.6 was among the strawberry varieties presented. Now the POs will have to decide whether to turn it into a commercial variety or not. It was obtained via a crossbreed 9 years ago and field cultivation started 3 years ago," explains Gianluca Baruzzi from Crea.
The 250.6 selection
The 250.6 cultivar is suitable for northern Italy as it needs a lot of chill hours and it stands out thanks to its high organoleptic qualities and medium production.

"Agronomic practices can be used to increase yields, though without exaggerating as quality does not rhyme with quantity."
The 240.8 selection
Another interesting selection is 240.8, which has rather a round shape and a unique aroma. In this case too, other assessments are needed before companies decide whether to license it or not.

A lot of material was also presented by Civ, Coviro, Berrylab and Geoplant. People were rather optimistic, especially since the market is looking good with profitable prices.
