Agroponiente and Rijk Zwaan organize an event about tomatoes in Europe

The seed trading company Rijk Zwaan and Grupo Agroponiente have organized an event under the title 'How to face the current trends of tomatoes in Europe', which has brought together a number of tomato growing specialists. The main goal is to analyze the product's situation in the continent's main consumer countries, as well as the trends and demands and the influence of all this on the production and on the growers themselves.

In fact, the vice president of Grupo Agroponiente, Francisco López Martínez, who has been in charge of welcoming everyone present, said that "we have the task of producing and marketing tomatoes, but you are all very aware of the fact that the market is the one setting the trends, the one that values ​​our product better or worse depending on the extent to which we are able to adapt to it. Events like today's, in which we share information so that all the links of the commercial chain benefit from this knowledge, are tremendously important for all."

Alberto Cuadrado, head of Cadena, who spoke about the 'Current situation of tomatoes in the European market'; David Herzog, Tomato and Tomato Rootstock Coordinator, who gave a conference on 'Pairing a rootstock with the right variety'; and Manuel Hernández, specialist in tomato cultivation, who spoke about 'Varietal recommendations to face these new challenges', participated on behalf of Rijk Zwaan.

Alberto Cuadrado made a very interesting review of the situation in the markets, mentioning specific cases about the demands in each area and chain, and providing very useful information for the commercial chain, especially for agricultural producers and the producing and marketing companies.

Agricultural producers have also been able to learn about the entire Rijk Zwaan tomato portfolio, which includes cocktail, cherry plum, cherry on the vine or loose tomatoes, among other commercial varieties..
