For the first time ever, a greenhouse that will allow the planting of high quality fruits for international markets has opened in Piura. This will improve the quality of life for the region's peasants and training students.
The inauguration of the greenhouse, which covers eight hectares of crops, was held yesterday at the Baltazar Ramos Plata school, in Rinconada Llicuar, Sechura. The director of the Spanish company Tecnova, Maricarmen Galera, spoke about how this greenhouse will benefit, mainly the towns of Bajo Piura.
Galera said that, with the technology set in motion, the San Martín de Sechura and Innova Peasant Community had trained more than 500 people in this area, among students and peasants.
"This initiative will give the farmers in the area a new development alternative. For example, in rice cultivation, where they will use less natural resources and obtain more income. More importantly the technology will allow farmers to have fewer losses in the field," she added.
In turn, the president of the peasant community San Martin de Sechura, Sebastian Espinoza Ayala, said that this greenhouse would bring greater opportunities for the inhabitants of Bajo Piura.
"Our students will earn more because we already have people trained in these subjects. In addition, we tell all the inhabitants that the association between them will allow access to these projects, which will allow the region to develop more and will improve the quality of life of our families," he stated.
