Breeding of phytosanitary insects

The use of biodynamic agriculture in greenhouses

The Murgiverde cooperative, of Almeria, is involved in a pioneering project that consists in the planting of cereals inside the greenhouse and of aromatic plants around it with the idea of eliminating viruses and pests. They raise insects that are released around the plants and which act as phytosanitary products. It is part of an integrated protection strategy suitable for organic farming.

Agricultural producers no longer cultivate just those horticultural products that have turned Almeria into the biggest exporter in Andalusia, but also aromatic plants with and plants with flowers; and they even breed their own insects.
