“Among its novelties for 2019, the Savéol cooperative is launching a range of open-ground tomatoes,” explains Claire Simon, commercial manager of the cooperative. Last week at MedFEL, three different varieties were presented: the round tomato, the elongated heart and the black ribbed.

Today, several Savéol producers are preparing for organic conversion. To do so, they must first master open-ground cultivation. “It is my last project before retirement,” says Henri Jehanno, a producer who is undergoing conversion and who was present at the fair.
Savéol is looking for new clients for its future organic tomatoes. The production should increase in the years to come. The tomatoes are destined for the French market, but also for export. According to Claire, “several wholesalers are already interested.”
Claire Simon, Patricia Dinahet and Stéphanie Le Gall at MedFEL last week. Besides the open-ground tomatoes, they presented the range of strawberries and tomatoes cultivated without pesticides.
