In Austrian wholesaling, local leafy vegetables are available in large quantities just in time for Easter. Butterhead and mixed lettuce from local cultivation are already selling in pleasing quantities. For about three to four weeks, the domestic volumes have been increasing; previously Italy was increasingly present on the Austrian market, says a Lower Austrian wholesale supplier.

"We are already able to offer almost the complete lettuce assortment from Austrian soil," says the wholesaler. The prices are about average: "We notice that only iceberg lettuce shows large price fluctuations. At the moment, prices are also moving at an average level, but we do not know how it will continue to evolve."
Cucumbers and tomatoes are currently also being consumed in relatively large quantities. "Tomatoes are already partially sourced from domestic greenhouses at slightly higher prices. On the other hand, we offer cucumbers primarily from the Netherlands, Germany or Spain. Across the whole cucumber range, prices are currently very low; one-third below last year's level."
