Swedish horticulture company introduces pesto made of plant residues

Horticulture company Svegro on the Swedish island of Färingsö is expanding its assortment with a new product category. The new Svegro herbal pesto is available in the flavors basil, green cabbage, and coriander. The pesto is made from the residues of plant material from their own greenhouse. This greatly reduces the amount of waste, increasing the sustainability of the company. The herbal pesto is made from organic herbs and does not contain nuts, unnecessary additives or preservatives.

Kristin Orrestig, Svegro: "In cultivation, harvest, and packaging there are always herbs and leafs which cannot be sold. They are of the same quality as the other plants, but sometimes they are too small or superfluous. These leafs are now saved because they end up in our herb pesto."
