Russia: First cucumbers picked in Oryol greenhouse

A cucumber greenhouse complex has become the first one of a series of agricultural projects carried out in the Oryol region. The investments have amounted to 34 million euros. Currently, the site has 7.5 ha of greenhouses employing 150 associates and a potential for producing almost 4.5 thousand tons of vegetables per year. Cucumbers were planted in December 2018 on a plot of 8 thousand square meters. The rest was occupied with tomatoes. They will become the main crop grown in this complex as soon as the cucumbers have stopped blooming.

Governor of Orlov region, Mr. Andrey Kalmykov: “We are discussing the second phase of the complex with the company management. The second phase presupposes reaching the full capacity of 10 thousand cucumbers and tomatoes. I would like this stage to be completed. From our side we guarantee as much support as before.”
