Spain: Hortofrutícola Mabe invests 25 M€ in its new facilities

Hortofrutícola Mabe is working to complete the construction works of its new facilities, located in El Ejido. The project, which will require a total investment of approximately 25 million Euro, is expected to be completed by the beginning of the next agricultural campaign (2019-2020), so it is already in the final phase.

The agrarian transformation society (SAT) is dedicated to the production and marketing of fruits and vegetables, mainly peppers, cucumbers, melons, zucchini, eggplant and watermelon. It owns ​​700 hectares and employs 400 workers, and its average annual production amounts to 100 million kilos worth around 95 million Euro.

Constituted as a Fruit and Vegetable Producers' Organization (OPFH), the entity received a grant of almost 1.8 million Euro to finance the actions framed in its Operational Program during the year 2016.

Up until 2020, the Operative Program of Mabe Hortofrutícola will require an investment of almost 25 million Euro, with close to 12.5 million Euro of financial aid.

Mabe SAT is one of the 31 OPFH registered in the province of Almeria which has received almost 41.2 million Euro of incentives financed by the European Agricultural Guarantee Fund (Feaga).

The SAT, which has more than three decades of history, is building a 25,000 square meter warehouse, which will be used to receive the merchandise and carry out the products' handling.

With this project, the entity continues seeking an adequate profitability, while providing stability to the producers.
