White cabbage prices in the Russian market continue to grow under the influence of the seasonal supply reduction, in the context of strong demand from wholesale companies in the domestic market. According to the data of the daily monitoring of the EastFruit project, prices have increased by an average of 9% since the beginning of the week alone.
At this time, cabbage prices in Russia have already reached 25-35 rubles/kg (0.38-0.53 $ / kg), with almost no cabbage left in Russian farms. Given the lack of supply, Russian companies are trying to partially compensate for it with imported products.
Experts argue that cabbage prices are being raised by a feverish demand, in the context of a rapid reduction in the supply. In fact, most producers have already sold out all their warehouse stocks.
Today, the average wholesale price for white cabbage is already about 2.6 times higher than in the last days of February last year, and the majority of market participants predict its further appreciation. They argue that the country's production is going to continue falling, while the share of products suitable for long-term storage has significantly decreased.
