Licence agreement adds new biological fungicide to Certis Europe's portfolio

Certis Europe and the Portuguese company CEV have entered into an exclusive distribution and sales agreement covering the EU 28 and other specified countries for CEV’s biological fungicide Problad, excluding Portugal. The product, which is based on a naturally-occurring compound extracted from Lupin seeds, is active against Botrytis and Powdery Mildew in vines, table grapes, tomatoes, and strawberries and Monilinia in stone fruits. Problad is undergoing EU approval which is anticipated early 2021 followed by national registrations and sales from 2022 onwards.

Jan Mostert, Certis Europe’s Portfolio Lead for Biorational products stated, “Problad is an exciting new product that will bring excellent disease control benefits to European growers. In addition Problad’s novel mode of action means that it will be an excellent tool in anti-resistance management for several important European diseases.”

Hugo Baptista, CEV's CEO, commented, “After several conversations, CEV found that both companies have very similar views on the importance of reliable Biorational products for European growers. CEV is very happy and proud to partner with Certis Europe, who are well placed to exploit the full potential of this important new product in Europe and beyond. Certis has a long history in providing growers with solutions for sustainable crop production and we look forward to working closely with them to bring Problad to the market.”
