Royal Berry will use Mini-air on 10 hectares

Two weeks earlier harvesting with successor to well-known strawberry tunnels

Royal Berry, one of the largest Dutch strawberry growers, is working on the mini air in the NEXTgarden greenhouse area. Royal Berry is the first grower in the Netherlands to utilize this system. The new system is the successor to the already well-known strawberry tunnels.

With the help of this new system, the 'tunnel strawberries' can be harvested two weeks earlier. It is about three racks for strawberries next to each other in one tunnel. The cover of this tunnel can be opened automatically. With the technical advice from supplier Meteor Systems, the system is being built in-house by Royal Berry.

The mini-air complex will occupy ten hectares in Bemmel. The new system will be put into service on the 1st of March. The prediction is that the first strawberries can be harvested one month later. With this new addition, Royal Berry will have 36 hectares of strawberries. They then have 18 hectares of strawberries in greenhouses, 8 hectares of strawberries in racks and 10 hectares of strawberries in the new mini-air system.
