Takeover of Limex completed, continuity safeguarded

"A host of opportunities for washers and cleaning concepts in horticulture"

Joep Janssen has taken over Limex Machine Exploitatie BV from his parents. The company was founded almost 30 years ago by his father who started cleaning vegetable crates at auctions using mobile crate washing installations. This soon led to in-house engineering and production of washers and the introduction of on-site full-service concepts for customers. Today, Limex has evolved into a leading, international supplier of washers for crates, trays and buckets for the agri-food sector.

In February 2018, Limex Cleaning Solutions (LCS B.V.) was established. Under the management of Jan van Hoef the focus of this division is on service provision. At that time, Joep Janssen was appointed as managing director of Limex Machine Exploitatie BV, the machine engineering division. Joep: "My parents have created a healthy and solid foundation that will facilitate further growth of the company. I have inherited my parents' key values, namely supplying reliable, high-quality machines and excellent levels of service. I will continue to be inspired and motivated by these values.”

Ornamental plant and horticulture sectors
Under his daily management, Limex has raised its profile as professional supplier of washers for ornamental plant producers and the horticultural sector. Joep intends to continue following this policy: “I see a host of opportunities for Limex in the horticultural and ornamental plant sectors in the future and will place even greater emphasis on this key area. It is a sector we have gained a great deal of expertise in over the past decades and can add value.”

International growth
The intended growth is also increasingly taking place beyond our national borders. Joep: “We are fully aware that, as regards developments in horticulture, the Netherlands is the world leader. If you are active in the highest segment, as Limex is in the domestic market, that involves the realities of innovative solutions and development potential. Our many years of experience give Limex a huge advantage in this respect. And we are noticing that in countries such as Germany, Poland and the Scandinavian region, where demand for our solutions is rising sharply.”

Innovation
Innovations focus on reducing the consumption of resources such as water, chemicals and thermal energy, as well as alternative methods of disinfection to remove the moulds and viruses prevalent in horticulture.

Food safety
Other countries have also found their way to Limex. “We recently appointed a new agent in Chile. Legislation and regulations applicable to horticulture and food safety have changed there lately. This means that stricter hygiene standards are expected and the demand for our washers is increasing." The first machines have already been exported to the fruit growing sector in Chile.
