Afghanistan: Greenhouses distributed to female growers

The Afghan Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock, (MAIL) through National Horticulture and Livestock Program (NHLP) distributed 36 greenhouses to 36 women in Baghlan province.

Abdul Gheyas Sediqi, provincial agriculture director, said that the growth of household economies is the backbone of society.

Gheyas added that the distribution and use of these greenhouses has a great effect on raising the level of women's economies and that those in need can achieve self-sufficiency through these greenhouses.

The cost of these greenhouses is more than one million AFN [13,250 USD], and includes an auxiliary package including greenhouses, vegetable seeds, agricultural equipment and greenhouse skills training.

These greenhouses were distributed to the women in Pul-e-Khumri, provincial capital, and Doshe, Khenjan, Nahrain, and Baghlan-e-Markazi districts.
