France: Horticulture present at Sival 2019

Parlez-vous Francais? The Sival exhibition kicked of yesterday in Angers, France. Focusing on the crop production of tomorrow, the presence of many horticultural suppliers isn't surprising.

If you say greenhouses and you say France, you say Richel. Obviously the greenhouse builder is present at the Sival.

Special market
The French fresh produce market is a special market. With a strong preference to local grown produce and much attention for the quality of the products, there's room for protected production.

For the horticultural industry this means that local growers have a strong position and are expanding their enterprises. This goes for tomatoes - with the first larger scale pepper nurseries currently being realised, it is to be seen whether this trend will continue in these crops as well.

Nevertheless, in France investing in sustainable production pays off - and that's good news for both the industry as well as the atmosphere on the exhibition floor.

With today probably being the busiest day of the show, it was hard to walk down the aisles every now and then.
