UK: Gove mentions vertical farming as part of fourth agricultural revolution

Environment Secretary Michael Gove recently addressed the Oxford Farming Conference 2019. In his speech, he discussed how British farmers can take advantage of the opportunities provided by Brexit and continue to export British produce.

Gove also mentioned vertical farming as part of "another revolution in how we produce our food".

"Vertical farming, with vegetables grown in temperature, moisture and nutrition-controlled indoor environments can also guarantee improvements in yield while at the same time limiting environmental externalities. And of course, vertical farms not only minimise land use but can of course be located close to the urban population centres they serve."
