Greenyard in Uzbekistan?

The media in Uzbekistan have reported that the Uzbek ambassador to Belgium has been in discussions with Greenyard. The talks were to have been held on 24 December last year. This Central Asian country wants to entice the multinational to begin activities in that country. This is why Dilyor Khakimov, Uzbekistan's ambassador to Belgium, has been in talks with Hein Deprez, Greenyard's CEO.

Deprez emphasized that he is following the fundamental reforms and structural changes in Uzbekistan's agricultural sector with interest. The Uzbek President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has implemented numerous transformations in the last two years. These include the introduction of market relations and the development of the processing and export industries. He also tackled the problems at the growers' level.

Greenyard was informed of the latest changes during the meeting. The Uzbek government wants to attract overseas investors. They were also told about the conditions under which partnerships can be entered into in the country.

Both parties agreed that Hein Deprez should take a trip to Uzbekistan. This is reported to have taken place from 26 to 29 December 2018. There were various meetings with Uzbek ministers and organizations on the agenda for the trip.
