Marco Slobbe, Fortuna Frutos:

"Availability of transport biggest challenge at the moment"

The supply of the Spanish and Canarian vegetables is in full swing. Mark Slobbe, Fortuna Frutos: "The availability of transport, particularly from the mainland of Spain, is our biggest challenge. Qualitatively, the product looks good and we have very decent productions. In the coming days, we have to have our logistics in order to meet the demand of our customers."

Marco: "At the end of last year, the prices of tomatoes, eggplants, and bell peppers were at a decent level. We didn't see Christmas prices, but that has been so for a number of years now. The market for courgettes has been very slow, in spite of a fairly small supply, and the cucumber market was just bad. The prices were so low, product is being discarded after harvest."

Marco: "For a number of 'basic vegetables', the week between Christmas and New Year is even better than the week before Christmas, something we have particularly seen in the Scandinavian market."
