Nigeria: Tomato prices rise in Kano

Vegetables sellers in Kano state have expressed concern over price rises of tomatoes and other perishables’ prices. Chairman of tomatoes sellers in the market, Alhaji Muhammad Ja’e, said the increase in price of tomatoes had skyrocketed compare to last year.

“The business has slowed down as price of tomatoes increased, thereby reducing our gains. We now sell a medium basket of tomatoes at N2,500.00 (€6.04), big basket N3,000.00 (€7.25) and smaller at N1000.00 (€2.42),” he said.

Dailytrust.com.ng reported how Alhaji Ja’e called on both the state and federal governments to support dry season farmers in the state.
