Turkey: “Super” tomatoes from Igdir receive a lot of interest from Iran

“Super” tomatoes from Igdir, a city located in eastern Turkey, stand out for their taste, color and aroma and, as a result, they are in high-demand from export markets. 

Tomatoes from this city have a mildly sour taste and receives a lot of interest from Iran and Nakhchivan. Many agricultural products are grown in Igdir which has a suitable microclimate for agricultural production and, as a result, Igdir is the main production center for agricultural products in eastern Turkey. But the tomato has been the main staple in local production and is one of the main sources of income for growers. Tomato prices are around 0.40 USD per kg and sell very quickly at this price point.
