Bristol man baffled by giant cucumbers

To his amazement, a gardener from Bristol ended up growing two-foot long cucumbers. Gordon Blewitt from Dundry said he was “stunned” when the vegetables grew to a whopping 72.40 centimeters.

Weighing in at just over 10lbs, the pair of Italian cucumbers were grown in Blewit’s garden greenhouse over the last month.

The retired carpenter and joiner explained: “I bought Italian cucumber seeds three years ago and the last two to three years, I have grown them and they have come out like ordinary cucumbers.

“They have always been normal, maybe a bit longer because they’re Italian, but they’re always the same as on the packet. But these are exceptional.”

According to The Bristol Post, Gordon was so impressed by his colossal cucumbers that he decided to enter them into a local gardening show - but, to his shock, missed out on the top prize to a normal-sized cucumber.
