AU: Hydroponic herb growers reveal key to good parsley

Herb grower Dean Halpin says parsley is one of his favourite herbs to use in salads and believes it's a versatile ingredient.

The Halpin family business, New Reef Hydroponics, produces fresh parsley every week and delivers it freshly to its suppliers throughout the region.

"We do around about 400 bunches a week, probably 200 of both Italian and English varieties. All our parsley is fresh. We pick it in the morning and supply it the same day, it's as fresh as you can get," Mr Halpin said.

The popular herb is grown hydroponically on the property, which the Halpins consider is a cheaper option.

"The hydroponic facilities provide great results, they are cheaper and easier to use, you're not on your knees checking the plants in the ground the whole time," Mr Halpin said.
