US (FL): High school opens new aquaponics greenhouse

The director of Farming the Future is helping local students step up their farming skills.

A ribbon cutting was held Tuesday morning at Gadsden County High to celebrate the new aquaponics greenhouse.

"After we grow the food and the food goes into the cafeteria, what's left over gets to go home with the kids. It gets to go home to the parents. So, this is just going to be the beginning of helping support the community even more," said Michele Madison, the director of Farming the Future.

Students are currently growing lettuce, basil, cucumbers, peppers, watermelon, and fish.
