Greenhouse cucumber prices rising in Poland

Greenhouse cucumber prices continue to rise quickly in Poland. The product is becoming more expensive every day, reports APK-Inform: Vegetables and Fruits citing FreshMarket.

In the last week alone, greenhouse cucumbers in the Polish market have become 25-33% more expensive. Producers have been able to close transactions at 4.5-6 złoty/kg (1.07-1.42 Euro/kg). For comparison, at the start of the same week, prices did not exceed 4.5 złoty/kg.

According to market players, this rapid price increase is due to a reduction in the supply from greenhouses as a result of frosty and snowy weather. Moreover, the supply of imported products from Spain has also declined, which has led to an overall reduction in the market supply.

Nevertheless, it is worth noting that, despite the current trend, prices for local greenhouse cucumbers in Poland are on average 18% lower than at this time last year.
