CAN (AB): Thiel’s Greenhouse surpasses crowdfunding goal

Bruderheim’s Thiel’s Greenhouse secured almost $30,000 as part of its ATB BoostR campaign, a number which surpassed the company’s goal by $5,000. The crowd funded donations will go towards bringing hydroponics technology, which is a way to grow plants in water. That equipment comes with a $160,000 total price tag.

“I did know that I would hit my goal — that was never a doubt in my mind. I don’t believe in setting a goal to fail. When I set my mind to do something then it becomes a mind set of ‘how to get it done’ not if I will get it done. I’m a bit stubborn and especially driven to push myself to hit self imposed goals. Failure was honestly not an option!,” said Thiel’s owner Nadine Stielow.

The new equipment should be installed by mid-summer and will be up and running by September 2018.

Receiving support from almost 100 donators, the greenhouse owner feels inspired by all the positive feedback and views as a reconfirmation that she should branch out into growing food in addition to flowers. It also represents local consumers are becoming more health conscious for fresh food and they have that desire of knowing where their food is coming from. Supporters who purchased items such as pies, fresh lettuce, flowers, Downtown Diner dinner, or Pure Yoga classes to just name a few, they should expect a call or email this week to follow up on the BoostR donation.
