India: Horticulture Secretary visits fruit plant nurseries

Secretary of the Horticulture Department, M.H. Malik accompanied by Director of Horticulture, Bhawani Rakwal and Chief Horticulture officer, Y.K. Keasr inspected three Government Fruit Plant nurseries at Akhnoor and Khour Blocks of district Jammu.

The Secretary addressed the concern to remove all dead and dried fruit trees from the nurseries and prepare a DPR which includes leveling the nursery, making of irrigation channels, creation of water resources, repair/renovation of the Malies hut is to be properly estimated along with proper fencing of the nurseries. It was instructed to produce various cultivars of citrus and Ber in the nursery area and to develop the High-density orchard in 50% of the total area.
