UK: Willowbrook vows to keep up supplies of lettuce

Willowbrook Foods has said it will keep supply going despite the European shortage of lettuce and fresh produce. The Comber-based firm said that turnover had increased by 20% over the last year, leaving them well-placed to keep supply going.

A spokeswoman for the company said: "Although a loss of sales turnover is projected from January to March, overall profitability will not be affected as the company still projects double digit growth by the end of 2017."

Managing director John McCann said his "very strong, long-term relationship" with growers over the years had allowed him to secure up to 60% of raw material supply.
