US (MI): Grand Haven High School greenhouse construction underway
The contractor received the greenhouse framing at the end of November, and they’re working on framing the walls, installing windows and getting the structure enclosed so work can begin on the interior. The foundation and concrete have been poured, and the electric and water components have been “plumbed in,” Rescorla said.
Since it will take 3-4 weeks to frame the greenhouse, Rescorla said the space is slated to be available for use in mid-January.
The greenhouse is being constructed on the south side of the high school, west of the school’s media center. The project is slated to cost about $345,000, and it will be funded through voter-approved bond funds.
It’s estimated that up to 500 students will use the greenhouse each semester.
