Syngenta heavily invests in Research Triangle Park

In 2013, Syngenta held the grand opening for the Advanced Crop Lab at the Syngenta RTP Innovation Center. This gave the company the ability to have all scientists working on new innovations in one place.

Trish Malarkey, head of research and development for Syngenta, said the ambition of the company is about food security and being able to sustainably feed the world.

The lab includes a greenhouse and research facility with more than 1 acre under glass and 46 growth environments that simulate weather around the globe.

“We have invested $1.4 billion in research and development. We have a full and vibrant pipeline of fungicides, insecticides, herbicides and seed care here,” said Malarkey. “Continuing work includes broad spectrum insecticides, nematicides, herbicides and a better handle on disease control, insect control and weed control.”
