Horticultural Research Institute joins global #GivingTuesday movement
The Horticultural Research Institute (HRI) has joined Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on November 29, Giving Tuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
“HRI is funded by hundreds of green industry philanthropists and businesses,” states Karl Losely, HRI President. “Participating in Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving, is exciting—and will assist HRI in raising the needed funds to provide effective, efficient, and relevant solutions for green industry businesses.”
Harvey Cotten, HRI Board Advisor, agrees. “Giving Tuesday creates an opportunity for HRI to remind folks about all the good work happening in horticultural research. Our hope is that many will be encouraged to participate by donating to HRI between Giving Tuesday and the end of the year. The work only continues if we have the industry’s support.”
For more information about HRI or to donate, visit www.hriresearch.org or contact Jennifer Gray at 614.884.1155. For more details about the Giving Tuesday movement, visit the Giving Tuesday website (www.givingtuesday.org) or follow @GivingTues and the #GivingTuesday hashtag on Twitter.
