Russia: 8.5 hectare greenhouse put in operation in Novosibirsk

Phase one of the “Tolmachevskyi” greenhouse complex was put in operation in the Russian city of Novosibirsk. The administrative center of the Siberian Federal District of Russia is the country’s third most populous city after Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

The greenhouse complex covers 8.5 hectares of land. Investments in the project totaled 3.5 billion roubles (55 million USD), TASS news agency reports. The complex is to produce 15,000 tons of fresh vegetables per year.

Phase two is scheduled to be launched in October 2017, and in 2018 the third phase, called “Obskoi”, will start.
