US (NJ): State education commissioner learns about aquaponics at school

The Northfield Community School has received a lot of recognition for its innovative learning ideas, from a partnership with Thomas Jefferson University Hospital to its national Student Voices award from the State Educational Technology Directors Association.

On Wednesday, acting state Education Commissioner Kimberly Harrington stopped by the school to see the students in action. She visited classrooms, the TV studio and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) lab, walked down the Idea Street of hallways converted into learning centers and talked with students in the “lunch bunch” who work on projects during their lunch period.
