Russia: Yekaterinburg to get 17.6 hectares of greenhouse

UGMK-agro plans to invest about 5.5 bln roubles (87 million USD) in the second phase of a vegetable greenhouse complex near Yekaterinburg, according to Ilya Bondarev, director general of the company.

The greenhouses’ acreage will amount to 17.6 hectares, and the second phase will start operating at full capacity at the end of 2017.

UGMK-agro has already invested about 300 million roubles in starting up an energy center, which will supply the second phase of the greenhouse complex with economic power, said Bondarev. This will allow the company to increase the volume of vegetable production 2.6 times, from the current 5,500 tons to 14,500 tons of tomatoes and cucumbers.
