US (NY): No vote yet on proposed Intergrow greenhouse in Webster

It's status quo for a tomato greenhouse development proposal after the Webster Planning Board tabled any decisions on the project yet again.

Nearly 100 people attended Tuesday night's public hearing at the Webster Recreation Center.

Concerns circle around the location Intergrow Greenhouses, Inc. is proposing at the northeast corner of Salt and State Road.

"We thought we'd be constructing right now, so we're disappointed," said Dirk Biemans, co-owner of Intergrow. "We feel we still have no reason to believe we're not allowed to build here. We surely feel it's a permissible use."

Planning Board member Derek Anderson posed numerous questions that were met with applause from the people who attended.

"What we talked about in the meeting is primarily the amount of soil that's being removed for the construction of the buildings," said Anderson. "It doesn't really seem consistent with the type of activity that they're proposing."
