First harvest at Frutura Thermal-Gemüsewelt

Nine weeks after the festive planting in greenhouses of Frutura Thermal-Gemüsewelt the first harvest is ripe and ready. About 50,000 kilos of juicy organic cherry tomatoes, tasty organic vine tomatoes and the flavorsome organic San Marzano tomatoes are ready to be shipped from the greenhouses in Bad Blumau. Furthermore, the fully-ripened green, yellow and red sweet pepper mix Ramiro will soon be packed in the Spar bags and within a short amount of time sold in all Spar stores in Austria. 

This agricultural project will exclusively supply the private brand Spar “Natur pur” (Pure nature) almost the entire year round.

The vegetables are currently harvested in Austria. Now Spar stores sell all produce of Austrian harvest that is available. However in the summer tomato varieties such as cherry tomatoes and several organic varieties that are in very high demand, have to be imported. The new Frutura Thermal-Gemüsewelt greenhouses in Bad Blumau in Styria help to reduce the import. The decrease in energy used during transport combined with the environmentally friendly production in Bad Blumau created a showcase initiative in terms of climate protection.
