US (CO): Vandals damage Blaine’s Tomatoes crop, greenhouses

Blaine Diffendaffer thought an ornery raccoon got into his greenhouse and ripped up his carrots in the middle of the night. Or maybe it was a deer that ripped through the plastic with its antlers.

But when he saw the footprints and the slashed walls, he knew this was no animal.

Vandals damaged Diffendaffer’s crop, some of the vegetables destined to be sold through his business, Blaine’s Tomatoes and Farmacy Farms. And for Diffendaffer, it just doesn’t make sense.

Whoever slashed these big gashes in the walls of his greenhouses, smashed the plants, stole the black plastic bins and a cart he uses for harvesting, and ripped up part of his crop caused about $3,000 in damages on the night of June 19.
