Herscher High School's booster clubs will contribute more than half of the $155,900 to get a modern weight room and greenhouse by the beginning of the school year.
the school board agreed to purchase the greenhouse for $82,291. International Greenhouse will provide four supervisors to oversee about 20 volunteers who will build the greenhouse.
The 1,225-square-foot structure will replace the school's 25-year-old greenhouse. It will feature a hydroponics system that will attach to a 500-gallon fish tank, which will enable students to grow plants in water.
